From the opening kickoff, Hoover High School was in control of their matchup against Bessemer City.  With stellar play on both sides of the ball, the Buccaneers overpower Bessemer 48-7.

A string of explosive plays set the tone for Hoover, energizing the entire team.  To start the game, Marlon Humphrey had an 83-yard kickoff return.  Then on the first play of the second quarter, P.J. Hall returned an interception to make the score 14-0 Bucs.  Hall’s interception was just one of three picks returned for a touchdown.

Offensively, the Bucs did not require much since their defense and special teams combined for 28 points.  Still, junior running back Bradrick Shaw had himself a day, rushing for 123 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries.

This win marks Hoover’s 21st consecutive victory.  Now at 6-0, the Bucs sit on top of Alabama football and 12th in the DigitalSports National Football Rankings.

Next on Hoover’s list is Hillcrest.  The two teams face off on Friday, October 11 at 7:00p.

Key Players:

Marlon Humphrey- 83-yard kickoff return

P.J. Hall- 1 INT, 1 TD
